Our Vision:
"To provide an efficient x-ray and ultrasound service."
Two radiographers run the radiography department. We have an x-ray machine,
two ultrasound machines and one portable x-ray machine. Patients needing a CT
scan are sent by the doctor to Ngwelezana Hospital
in Empangeni.

There is always one radiographer on call in case of emergencies. In May 2003
work was completed on the tar road up to the hospital. This resulted in an
increase of emergency calls, as the number of road accidents has increased.
Many chest x-rays are taken because of the high occurrence of TB in this area
(see Diseases & Illnesses). TB and Mseleni
Joint Disease make up a significant proportion of our work in the x-ray
department.
One radiographer goes every Tuesday and Thursday weeks to Mduku
clinic to do ultrasound. Other clinics and mobile points send patients
needing ultrasound either to Mduku or to the
hospital depending on which is closest.
